AMBASSADOR SANNA SELIN

Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria and Benin, Permanent Representative of Finland in ECOWAS, Ambassador-designate of Finland to Ghana and Liberia

Ambassador Sanna Selin is an experienced diplomat with over 20 years of experience in diplomacy, international relations, foreign policy, security, and trade.

The Ambassador joined Finland's Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2003 and has served in various capacities, including postings at the Finnish Embassies in New Delhi and Nicosia and Finland's Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels. She has served several departments at the domestic level, focusing on EU affairs, foreign trade, and security policy.

Before her ambassadorial appointment, she served as the Director of the Market Access Unit at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Department for International Trade since 2021.

On the 1st of September 2024, she was appointed to serve as Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Abuja. On assuming office as the Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, she presented her credentials to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on January 24, 2025, as Ambassador to Nigeria and the Permanent Representative to the Economic Community of West African States
(ECOWAS).

Ambassador Selin has a Master of Arts degree in Geography. She has a proven track record of interest in strengthening bilateral relations, especially in digitalization, energy, health, and trade. She is interested in new cultures, traveling, and meeting people in general.

She has expressed her enthusiasm about being posted to Nigeria and her eagerness to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Nigerian people.
